Who We Are

About the IOWA Optometric Association

About the Iowa Optometric Association: The Iowa Optometric Association (IOA) held its first meeting in June of 1898 at the Savory Hotel in Des Moines. Since that time, the IOA has worked to improve the quality, availability and accessibility of eye/vision care to Iowan representing 400 + Doctors of Optometry.

Doctors of Optometry provide eye and vision care and, as primary eye care providers, Doctors of Optometry have extensive, ongoing training to examine, diagnose, and treat ocular disorders, diseases and injuries and systemic diseases that manifest in the eye.
